What is Medicare?
Medicare is health insurance for anyone aged 65 or older and for people under 65 with certain disabilities. People with end-stage renal disease or ALS are also eligible for Medicare, no matter their age. Original Medicare recipients qualify for “Medigap” plans, also referred to as Medicare Supplement plans, which help pay for costs not covered by Original Medicare. Most Medicare patients purchase a Medicare Part D prescription plan, along with dental and vision plans. Medigap should not be confused with Medicare Advantage, a Medicare alternative offered by private insurers. Follow the links below to learn more about each plan.
